4 big observations the Panthers can take from Matt Corral’s pro day

Matt Corral has a conviction to his throws
Coming from SEC competition has clearly served Matt Corral well. This is undeniably the gold standard when it comes to college football competition and the quarterback had some really nice moments against stout defenses that shouldn’t be overlooked when it comes to examining his chances of making a smooth transition to the next level.
Of course, pro days are nice. And Corral’s was more important than most considering how much time the player has missed during the all-important assessment stage before the 2022 NFL Draft.
However, examining the film is even more essential. Corral displayed a conviction to his throws during the session that reflects his game tape, which is something the Carolina Panthers are craving following the indecisive production of Sam Darnold during his one and what might be only season under center.
One of the biggest things Corral has going for him is processing. He is an intelligent football player who goes through his reads quickly, allowing him to be decisive with his throws and hit targets with accuracy more often than not.
There are some things Corral needs to work on and his arm couldn’t be considered as strong as Malik Willis’ by any stretch of the imagination. But there is a confidence to his throws that is hard not to love.
