Ranking the 9 potential Carolina Panthers starting QB options in 2022

Carolina Panthers could draft Matt Corral
Although the temptation to select a quarterback during the 2022 NFL Draft is obvious, the Carolina Panthers may want to approach with caution. This is not the strongest group of signal-callers that’s ever entered the league and waiting one more year could see the organization in a position to bring in one of the top prospects from a very deep group next time around.
The pressure for Matt Rhule to make big strides next season cannot be overlooked. Asking a signal-caller drafted at No. 6 overall to come in and start right away would be pushing it and if they end up going down this route, then Matt Corral is a name that will be on the shortlist.
Corral has gone a little under the radar after injuring his ankle during his final bowl game for Ole Miss. He has some outstanding production in the SEC, but it could take the player time to successfully adjust to the next level, and ankle problems to have a tendency to flare up again over time.
Considering how much Corral relies on mobility, this could be a problem. The quarterback is also undersized in terms of height and overall bulk, which might just see more complications on the health front pop up.
This is something the Panthers will consider but eventually, look the other way. Corral might be a legitimate starter one day, but Carolina is desperate for an upgrade under center at the earliest possible opportunity.
