Carolina Panthers signed Austin Corbett

As stated previously, things had to change in a big way for the Carolina Panthers regarding their offensive line this offseason. Poor coaching, suspect free-agent signings, and a distinct lack of accountability made this unit one of the league’s worst in 2021 and head coach Matt Rhule could ill-afford the same problems resurfacing next season for whoever they choose to go with under center.

We’ve already spoken about the appointment of James Campen and how that could potentially benefit the Panthers. But the signing of Austin Corbett is another outstanding piece of business by the front office that should provide an instant upgrade on anything Carolina churned out at right guard during the previous campaign.

Corbett is coming off an exceptional season with the Los Angeles Rams that eventually concluded with a memorable Super Bowl triumph. He was responsible for one of the game’s key blocks against the Cincinnati Bengals and this sort of mentality is exactly what the Panthers need in this particular area of the field.

Pairing Corbett alongside stud right tackle Taylor Moton has the potential to be great. Couple this with the acquisition of Bradley Bozeman and Carolina appears a left tackle away from being much improved next time around.

The signing of Corbett can benefit the Panthers in the short and long term. Something that the team has craved for quite a while.
