Carolina Panthers have met with Treylon Burks
Although selecting a wide receiver early in the 2022 NFL Draft would not be wise considering how many options the Carolina Panthers already possess, that hasn’t stopped them from getting additional knowledge regarding one of the better prospects entering the league this year. It is once again expected to be an extremely deep class in keeping with what we’ve seen emanate from the college ranks in recent years, which could see a run midway through the first round onwards.
According to WalterFootball.com, the Panthers got the opportunity to meet Treylon Burks following his outstanding display of athletic attributes at the NFL Scouting Combine. The physically imposing wideout has a unique blend of size, strength, and athleticism, with his production for Arkansas in 2021 resulting in 66 receptions for 1,104 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns.
Burks is a dominant red-zone threat thanks to his ability to create separation quickly and lengthy wingspan. He is a constant deep threat and has also been used in a similar fashion to how the San Francisco 49ers deploy Deebo Samuel due to exceptional elusiveness with the football in his hands.
If there was one knock on Burks, it’s the limited route tree he’s been tasked with in college. Something he needs to elaborate on upon arriving in the pros.
However, this is a can’t miss prospect for someone in the first round. But it would be a major shock if that was the Panthers given their needs elsewhere.
