Skyy Moore is an agile, feisty wide receiver that possesses great natural athletic ability. His speed in pads is as fast as his quickness in workouts, something that has not gone unnoticed by scouts and key personnel during the evaluation process.
Moore’s footwork is quick and fluid and his glove-sized hands let him catch anything within a reasonable radius. The combination of elusiveness and speed makes him a good option in the slot or the outside.
The biggest strength of Moore’s game is his release off the line of scrimmage, which is the prospect’s calling card. He is borderline un-pressable.
His first steps off the line, in combination with his skill in fighting off initial contact, allows him to go by press coverage without being slowed down. This ability combined with Moore’s speed makes him a deadly match-up.
Defenses in man coverage have to press and hope they can bump him off his route. Or give a cushion and allow Moore a free release. Neither option seems like a good one.
Zone defense does not slow down Moore either. His hands are large and made of glue and the wideout drops easy passes, often making tough catches through traffic without any issues.
The mental and physical toughness Moore possesses cannot be understated. He does not mind running across the middle and taking hits. He is a fearless player through traffic, and the player fights through contact when going for the ball one-on-one or in tight windows.
Moore will draw a lot of pass interference penalties in the NFL with this attitude.
The only big negative in Moore’s game is his limited route tree. Most of his routes are either slants, go’s, or curls. But this can be worked on and expanded upon when he enters the league and this has not stopped D.K. Metcalf from being an elite wide receiver.
As a deep threat, Moore is limited going up high for the ball due to his small frame. However, his speed and before-mentioned release make him a real force and something the Carolina Panthers could definitely use if given the chance.
Moore will, at worst, be a productive No. 3 option for most NFL offenses. But he has the potential to grow into a top-10 receiver in the NFL with the combination of his attitude, hands, speed, and release.
