Bravvion Roy – Carolina Panthers DT

The Carolina Panthers got a little more than they bargained for with Bravvion Roy. Little was expected of the sixth-round selection in 2020 upon arriving at the organization, but he deserves credit for carving out a rotational role for himself and generating some significant reps over his first two seasons in the league.

Roy does flash capability at times. But he is undersized and this makes him susceptible to getting overawed on running downs, which has happened on countless occasions so far.

Carolina lost DaQuan Jones in free agency and signed Matt Ioannidis following his release by the Washington Commanders. Expected improvements from Phil Hoskins and Daviyon Nixon indicate that Roy also needs to adjust certain aspects of his game considerably during the upcoming offseason program.

The Baylor product will be watching the draft with great interest. If the Panthers acquire another option for their defensive front with the potential to come in and play right away, then it could be the clearest sign yet that they might be willing to move on from Roy if he cannot develop.

Only time will tell, obviously. Roy has a head start on anybody coming in with two years’ experience under his belt, but he still needs to demonstrate growth to continue his influence on a rotational basis.
