3 potential draft weekend disasters for the Carolina Panthers in 2022

Carolina Panthers want to trade down but there is no interest
It might not come as much of a shock if the Carolina Panthers set their sights on trading out of the No. 6 overall selection. General manager Scott Fitterer is known for his wheeling and dealing during the draft, which brought an unprecedented amount of movement from the organization last year en route to 10 selections and even a 2023 fourth-rounder for good measure.
Fitterer has made it a point not to reveal too much so far. Something that isn’t entirely unexpected considering the multiple avenues Carolina can go down at No. 6.
They might be in contention to select a premier offensive tackle, the temptation to select a quarterback is also on the table and to a lesser extent, the Panthers could also consider an elite pass-rusher depending on how the draft board plays out.
If the Panthers want to trade down, then it is not the best year to accomplish such goals. This is thanks in no small part to the significant questions surrounding this year’s quarterback class and could lead to teams holding firm and keeping their capital during a deep draft for prospects in the mid-to-late rounds.
Obviously, Fitterer is a master when it comes to draft board manipulation. So if anyone can pull this off, it’s him.
But it might not be as easy as it appeared last time around.
