Considering Jamaree Salyer played so well against high-quality opposition throughout his college career, there are some analysts up and down the country poking holes in his production. The offensive lineman might not be the biggest left tackle that’s ever entered the league, but he is explosive and also boasts flawless technique to further enhance his cause.
Put on the tape Salyer demonstrated against Michigan in the college football playoffs against Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo to see what he is capable of. The player’s quick feet and physicality make him a significant force to be reckoned with against even the brightest players at the college level – that is hard to find on a consistent basis.
Salyer thrives in pass protection, which is exactly where the Carolina Panthers need assistance. His thick base forms a key component that is extremely hard to shift and another overlooked feature of his game is some outstanding discipline at the line of scrimmage.
There remains some doubt as to where Salyer is best suited in the pros. He has experience either or the edge on the interior, which is where some teams could slot him due to his lack of height.
Salyer gets carried away and overextends at times, which can lead to complications. The former Georgia standout will also need to improve his run blocking against more formidable opposition.
With that being said, there is much to like about Salyer and what he can bring to Carolina or somewhere else providing his transition is a smooth one.
