Jacksonville Jaguars select Travon Walker
- Defensive End | Georgia
There are many ways the Jacksonville Jaguars could go with this selection. It looked for a long time as if an offensive lineman might be the choice, but with Cam Robinson getting the franchise tag, the organization could focus their immediate attention to the opposite side of the football.
Although he didn’t put up the same level of stats as other defensive ends entering the league this year, Travon Walker is a name that surged into consideration for the No. 1 overall selection in recent weeks. He has all the intangibles needed to make a big-time impact right out of the gate and according to FanSided’s national NFL insider Matt Lombardo, it’s something Jacksonville is reportedly leaning towards.
This could be something of a surprise. But there is little doubting Walker’s ability to wreak havoc with elite explosiveness and technique.
Walker’s production during Georgia’s national championship campaign was exceptional. It was hard to stand out on a defense loaded with NFL-ready talent, but the edge defender managed to accomplish this in fine fashion.
The Carolina Panthers brought in Walker for a visit, which could see him become an option if he makes it out of the top five. However, that is seemingly more unlikely with every passing day such is the prospect’s momentum right now.
