Matt Corral brings fearlessness to the Carolina Panthers
Although Matt Corral wouldn’t be classed as the biggest or most imposing quarterback that’s ever entered the league, there is a fearlessness to the signal-caller’s approach on the field that’s hard not to love.
Rarely flustered in the pocket and often accurate under pressure, Corral has the attitude that can inspire those in the stands and build momentum quickly where it matters most. Whether that’s with a surging run or big-time throw, the prospect has an exciting element to his game that was sorely missed by the Carolina Panthers more often than not in 2021.
Corral processes information on the field better than any player from the college ranks taking their chances at the next level. He is also able to react quickly in pursuit of keeping the chains moving.
Obviously, being undersized and taking big hits consistently running the football wouldn’t be wise against NFL-caliber defenders. But taking this from Corral’s game entirely would also be a mistake.
It’s all about choosing his spots correctly. If Corral can do this, it will only enhance his chances of becoming the team’s long-term starter.
What comes next is obviously down to Corral. It might have been a long wait for the signal-caller to hear his name called, but this represents a fantastic landing spot with an opportunity to perhaps become an NFL starter from Week 1.
