Myles Hartsfield – Carolina Panthers DB

It’s no secret that the Carolina Panthers have dealt with some injury problems within their cornerback room throughout camp. Jaycee Horn continues to be brought along slowly after experiencing soreness in his foot, with C.J. Henderson and Keith Taylor Jr.’s promising starts halted thanks to knocks of their own.

This is far from ideal. But it has allowed one progressive individual to enhance his growing reputation in pursuit of more involvement next time around.

Myles Hartsfield’s story is a fantastic one. Overlooked during the 2020 NFL Draft, he signed for the Panthers in undrafted free agency and became part of the defensive rotation, progressing his skill set considerably over his first two seasons in Carolina.

There were some who questioned whether Hartsfield’s involvement would continue in the same manner. But the versatile defensive back has proven beyond all doubt he can become a key component to a secondary that has a tremendous amount going for it.

Hartsfield’s level of performance drew praise from head coach Matt Rhule after Saturday’s scrimmage, which saw the player come up with an exceptional interception, wrestling the football from D.J. Moore’s hands and into his own.

Whether it’s as a swing safety or as the team’s nickel cornerback, Hartsfield will have a part to play next season.
