C.J. Henderson – Carolina Panthers CB

This offseason was one of immense importance for C.J. Henderson. The Carolina Panthers allowed the cornerback to progress at his own pace last season after acquiring him from the Jacksonville Jaguars, but much more is expected this time around after an extended transition period.

Henderson flashed quality in 2021 without doing enough to convince people he’s behind some early struggles. However, the strides made in camp were noticeable before the former first-round pick missed time through injury.

All signs point to Henderson making his presence felt alongside Jaycee Horn and Donte Jackson. A cornerback trio that could become among the league’s best if all three reach or exceed expectations.

It’s clear that Henderson is benefitting from more stability and better coaching. The Florida product also highlighted the important role defensive backs coach Steve Wilks has played over the summer.

The talent has been been questioned where Henderson is concerned. If his confidence is upped and the player remains determined in a competitive environment, then it could see major improvements in 2022.

Henderson couldn’t have done any more this offseason to prove his worth. Getting it done when push comes to shove in the regular season is the biggest remaining challenge.
