What trades could the Carolina Panthers make in order to help their rookie quarterback after moving up to No. 1 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft?

Anyone hoping for a quiet evening on Friday would not have been fond of Scott Fitterer and the Carolina Panthers. They shocked the NFL world by making a huge trade to No. 1 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft to hopefully select their next franchise quarterback.

The caveat of this massive move was the Chicago Bears’ insistence that D.J. Moore was part of the deal. With the wideout now on his way to the Windy City, that leaves the Panthers’ starting wide receiver trio as Terrace Marshall Jr., Laviska Shenault Jr., and Shi Smith – not the best position for a rookie to walk into.

With a very strong draft and free agency class at the tight end position, it’s very possible the Panthers improve a position that was arguably the league’s weakest in 2022 with Tommy Tremble and Ian Thomas producing very little.

While the draft may offer some options for Carolina, especially with the early second-round pick they managed to keep, the free agency class at wide receiver isn’t the strongest. Names like Adam Thielen, Odell Beckham Jr., and Jakobi Meyers headline the class, which is a prime example of this.

The Panthers may want to bring in a veteran presence. But the trade market has plenty of intriguing options according to those who could be available.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at three trades the Panthers could make to help their new rookie signal-caller in 2023.
