Bryce Young is oozing confidence
Something has changed in Bryce Young. Whether it's the prospect of fighting for a new, lucrative contract extension or the fact that he's overcome significant adversity to get here, the quarterback is oozing confidence right now.
And the Carolina Panthers are seeing the player they envisioned after investing so much to secure his services.
Young believes he can do anything now. He believes he can make every throw, overcome any obstacle, and drag his teammates along. The Panthers are still making him earn it, but he's meeting the challenge with a positive response.

The clinical way Young is approaching everything is highly encouraging. There is no moment too big. We've already spoken about his field vision and calmness, but the conviction he is displaying cannot be overstated.
And if he keeps this up, the Panthers might give him a new deal during the season.
Because the price is only going up.
The velocity and accuracy are as good as anything in the NFL currently. Young is dealing all over the field, and he throws a very catchable ball. The Detroit Lions didn't have much of an answer, and even though tougher challenges lie ahead, you couldn't ask for a better opening to the campaign.

Bryce Young might not win NFL MVP, but he's in the early conversation
Bryce Young still has his skeptics. But through the first four games of the season, no quarterback in the league is playing better.
And even though Young probably won't be the NFL MVP at season's end, he's definitely in the early conversation.
Young delivered another exceptional performance on the prime-time stage. He carved up the Lions, and when the team needed to lean more on the ground game, running back Chuba Hubbard came through.
The narrative around Young has shifted. Any remaining naysayers are just desperately clinging to their pre-draft perceptions of the player, and it looked like they might be right after his rookie year.
That is not the case anymore.
Young looks poised. He looks sharp.
More importantly, he looks like a franchise quarterback who can take the Panthers where they want to go.
The Panthers don't get much national media attention. It's a small market, and the team's struggles in recent years have seen them become an afterthought. But if Young keeps playing this well after the bye week, that will not be the case for much longer.
Once the necessary adjustments are made and everyone gets a little healthier during the Panthers' extended rest period, Young could get even better.
That's a scary thought for the rest of the NFL.
