Value

Grade: 20 out of 25

Curtis Samuel was rated by CBS Sports’ as the 49th best overall prospect and the fourth best wide receiver in this draft class. He was projected as a second round pick and that is exactly where the Panthers got him.

In terms of value, the Carolina Panthers didn’t reach by any means but didn’t get a steal either.

One of the reasons for a lower grade here, is the fact that McCaffrey and Samuels do have some similarities. The front office could have addressed other needs with players currently on the board. However, Dave Gettleman has proven he is not afraid to double dip at the top of NFL Drafts, like in 2013 when he selected two defensive tackles with his first two picks.
