Carolina Panthers at Pittsburgh Steelers: Gameday checklist
Carolina Panthers 2018 prime time debut set for tonight in Pittsburgh.
The Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers have a long history, dating back to when Charlotte was granted an NFL franchise and began play in the 1995 season. Wait a minute, they’ve only ever played six times in 22 years – how is that to be considered a long history? Glad you asked, because these two teams have actually met all but four years since the Panthers have been in existence.
Back in August, Carolina visited Pittsburgh for the seventeenth consecutive meeting between these two teams in preseason play. While they haven’t had too many regular season meetings, the familiarity and respect each has for the other is far more than any other two teams who only play once every four years.
Former owners Jerry Richardson and Dan Rooney were close and the ties between the organizations continue as Pittsburgh native and former minority owner with the Steelers, David Tepper, assumed control of Carolina this season. Thursday night marks his second return but this one obviously has a different feel happening in Week 10 as opposed to the final preseason game.
Following is everything you need to prepare for the Panthers and Steelers.
