Christian McCaffrey scores 15 touchdowns

Christian McCaffrey broke out in terms of touchdowns during the 2019 season with 19 scores, which far exceeded his previous career-high of five from the previous campaign. Considering he was the supreme focal point of the offense at the time, this was to be expected during what was a historic campaign.

McCaffrey became only the third player in league history to go over 1,000 yards rushing and receiving in the same year when he last turned out for a full season.

While it’s unrealistic to expect the same with a more balanced attack in Year 2 of Joe Brady’s scheme, how well No. 22 performs will go a long way to determining just how successful quarterback Sam Darnold will be under center.

The Carolina Panthers went through some problems in the red zone in 2020. This contributed significantly to their eventual demise in close-fought contests, so having this extra weapon in McCaffrey has the potential to shift momentum in their favor.

Setting a target of 15 combined touchdowns is a solid benchmark to aim for.

But there is nothing to suggest McCaffrey is not more than capable of much more, providing the Panthers can find the right balance and keep their face of the franchise healthy throughout a grueling 17-game schedule.
