Brandon Shell – OT

As stated previously, the Carolina Panthers are desperate for help on their offensive line. This was unsurprisingly a big-time source of frustration from start to finish in 2021 and the ripple effect on whoever played quarterback was there for all to see.

It would be wise for the Panthers to address this early and often this offseason. The protection has been ignored for far too long and another false move or two when it comes to personnel could see heads roll as a result.

Perhaps Scott Fitterer could look in Brandon Shell’s direction. The former fifth-round pick has been primarily used on the right-hand side throughout his career, but he has also held his own when asked to man the blindside on occasions.

Versatility is something clearly high on Carolina’s wish list with their new recruits. Shell gave up three sacks and conceded one penalty from 550 snaps this season en route to a creditable 67.9 grade from Pro Football Focus, so there are far worse options the Panthers could end up with based on this sort of production.

Much will depend on the money involved. But this might not be a bank-breaker for the Panthers compared to others set to hit the market.
