Most professional football players have had their cleats hung up long enough that they’re covered in dust by the time they’re forty years old. John Kasay may very well still be working his old gig with the Carolina Panthers well beyond that age.
Kicker John Kasay signed a four-year contract extension with the Panthers, the team announced today.
Kasay, the last of the original Panthers, is the franchise’s all-time leading scorer and passed Jan Stenerud last week for eighth place on the NFL’s all-time field goal list with 374.
“We are very pleased to know that John is going to remain a Carolina [...]

We have a new leader! The Carolina Panthers have passed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the inside with a nifty move down the front stretch to take a one game lead in the NFC South.
Is the cream rising to the top? And is the chaff falling to the bottom? Did the Carolina Panthers prove anything Sunday? Have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers merely stumbled or have they displayed some [...]

I’m about to throw some fancy-shamncy new math at you so hold on.
1 win over the Cardinals + 1 loss by the Buccaneers in Dallas = First Place!
Carolina Panthers fans were dragged into the gutter today as they were forced to root for their Panthers while also rooting for (GASP!!!!) the freakin’ Dallas Cowboys!! BLECHT!!!!
Lucky for us, while our team was coming from behind in inspiring fashion, the Dallas Cowboys were pulling their heads from their own nether regions to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The good news didn’t end there. Atlanta was dealt a blow today when they lost to [...]

This game had to give all Carolina Panthers fans some ugly flashbacks to the Chicago Bears game from week two. Ugly. Followed by more ugly.
The Arizona Cardinals were moving the ball rather easily against our vaunted defense and the Panthers offense was doing little or nothing.
From the beginning, the Cardinals offense was throwing the football all over the field. Their first possession took the ball all the way to the 2 yard line. That’s when the Carolina defense stood up as Tyler Brayton made penetration and the run by Tim Hightower was stuffed. That kept the score down to 3-0.

The Carolina Panthers are one game away from the mid-point of their season. What follows is a bye week – a chance to rest and get healthy. It’s also a chance to look ahead at their upcoming schedule.
Meanwhile, we’re looking back at history.

Nola Chick, our friend over at Chicks in the Huddle has paid off her debt. She made good on the bet we made. I’m so proud!
She has written her list of the top ten things she loves about the Carolina Panthers. It’s all because the Panthers put the smack down on her New Orleans Saints this past Sunday.
There are very few things better than winning a bet and one of them is doing it while your team beats the snot out of the other person’s team. After the jump, you’ll find her list.
